Your map will embrace the expanse of Brixton, including the land that became the iconic Brixton Market, the atmospheric Ritzy Cinema, and the leafy Brockwell Park. It encompasses the historic Brixton Windmill, as well as the site of the renowned Electric Avenue—one of the first streets in London to be lit by electricity. While some landmarks might not yet appear on the oldest maps, the territory they now occupy will be vividly rendered, letting you trace the evolution of the community’s most famous sites.
With unrivalled personalisation, you can centre the map precisely on any address—perhaps your current home, a childhood house, or another meaningful spot. Highlight particular streets, schools, or favourite meeting places with symbols or custom notes. Add a heartfelt dedication, commemorate a special date, or change the title and subtitle to something uniquely yours. Because each map is crafted to order, every element can be adjusted to reflect your story, making this a truly distinctive gift or heirloom.

Every map is designed to last a lifetime, maintaining its vibrancy and detail for generations to come.
The foundation of your Brixton map is a genuine Ordnance Survey sheet, dating from the 1870s through to the 1960s. These historic maps were produced with painstaking precision, using theodolites and chains to chart every lane, field, and railway with remarkable accuracy. Celebrated for their clean lines and distinctive cartographic style, OS maps reflect the evolving landscape of Victorian and 20th-century London. Each map is not only a beautiful work of art but an authentic document of local history, allowing you to see Brixton as your ancestors once did.
Please note you are purchasing a fully customised old map. Modern landmarks, such as your house, may not have been built yet! You can contact me to check if a certain location, landmark or feature is shown on this map.
Generally, larger maps look much better than smaller maps, because you can enjoy all of the smaller details. If you need a smaller map, I would suggest ‘zooming in’ so that the map covers a smaller area.
Because these maps are custom made to order, we can make you a map that looks great at at any size, from very small (8x10in/20x25cm) all the way to a few metres. If you are looking for a very large map, please get in touch.
